OVERVIEW

*Please note: We can only accept applications from individuals who have already completed Year 11 (or equivalent), as this course begins before September 2026. If you have not yet finished Year 11, please apply for September 2026 entry instead.
A beauty therapist works in one of the largest, trusted, professional and continually expanding industries within the Hair and Beauty Sector. The work environment can be varied in size, style and ambiance, from a cruise ship, through to small bespoke salons or luxury high end beauty salons and spas. You will deliver essential one-to-one treatments whilst maintaining your organisation’s image, financial viability and reputation. You will act with professionalism, without supervision and observe safe working practices to a high level of precision.
The apprenticeship will include: knowledge based qualification, level 2; competence based qualification (Beauty Therapy NVQ Diploma level 2); English and maths – level 1 (if not already achieved); employee rights and responsibilities. Within the Beauty Therapy qualification you will cover: health and safety; eyelash and brow treatments; basic facials; manicure; pedicure; promoting products and services; waxing; reception; contribute to the development of effective working relationships; make-up.
As an apprentice you will have the opportunity to work in our Sanctuary Salon at our Huddersfield Centre or our Boothroyd’s Salon at our Dewsbury Centre, each salon is fully equipped to create a professional environment in which our students can train. Students will practice on real clients and may also practice treatments on other students on the same course at Kirklees College.

GCSE English and maths grade 2 or above. To start your apprenticeship you must have secured employment that the college has agreed is suitable
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will complete an end-point assessment where you will showcase your client care, consultation, treatment skills and aftercare advice to an external person.
Once complete you will be ready for a full-time role in the salon. You may also wish to consider progressing into the level 3 in Beauty Therapy. Towards the end of the apprenticeship you will take and end-point assessment where you will showcase your client care, consultation, treatment skills and aftercare advice to an external person.
