COURSE

OVERVIEW

You will be equipped with the skills to create digital content for the fast-paced digital market and work across a variety of formats to create content for all aspects on online media.
The course supports you in developing your skills for creative intention through developing research projects, mood boards, storyboards and recording your reflection and critical thinking. Your personal and transferable skills are also developed through team working, working to meet a prescribed brief, working to deadlines, presenting ideas and information effectively and accurately completing administrative tasks and processes.
This course will develop your skills in visual and written communication, including film and video, photography, publishing, broadcasting, editing and journalism to help you pursue a career in media. You will expand your knowledge across a broad spectrum of media topics, including film, animation, podcasts, graphic design, publishing, and photography. As you progress, you can focus on an area or areas of media that relate to your personal interests.
The course aims to cover a broad variety of media skills and knowledge and give you the best opportunity to progress to higher education or a professional working environment. Workshops and seminars are supplemented by visits and workshops led by specialist media practitioners. You will also gain first-hand experience in the creative media industry by learning how to respond to live client briefs.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 4 or above and maths at 3 or above and 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be assessed through written assignments, research projects, practical productions, case studies and presentations. Your final production assignment will be showcased at the end of your second year.
