The Early Years Educator Apprenticeship provides you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to become a highly trained professional who will play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

COURSE

OVERVIEW

As an apprentice Early Years Educator apprentice, you may work in a range of settings, including full day care, children’s centres, preschools and reception classes. You may either be working on your own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
You will be expected to communicate and interact effectively within a team using a full range of skills. You will learn the importance of working independently, taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and understanding the impact of your work on others within an Early Education setting. Individuals will undergo all the checks as per the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) requirements to ensure suitability to work with children.
The course will cover various subjects related to child development, safeguarding, play, learning and assessment. You will be expected to demonstrate and apply your knowledge and skills on placement and also within your own individual portfolio. You will take part in a variety of planned placement activities over the 18-month programme.
Face to Face delivery will take place in college on the first Thursday of the month. Calendar dates will be provided on sign up.

Level 2 or grade 4 and above in 5 subjects which must include maths and English Language. You can be 16 years old to apply for this apprenticeship but it is at the discretion of the employer whether they are willing to hire a 16-year-old apprentice. To start your apprenticeship you must have secured employment that the college has agreed is suitable.
The end-point assessment for this apprenticeship involves a professional discussion and knowledge test. You will be required to complete a portfolio of work and a variety of placement observations.
Foundation degree in Early Years Education or another course in Higher Education Full-time employment
