COURSE

OVERVIEW

The Vocational Pathways provision is a full-time study programme for students who wish to progress onto Level 1 vocational programmes but may need some extra support when starting college. The course focuses on personal and social development, English and maths, work-based activity and vocational tasters within the college.
On the Construction Multi Skills Pathway, you will be working in the workshops at our Springfield Sixth Form Centre and will be taught by one of our industry experts. You will engage in a variety of sessions, including basic plastering, joinery, plumbing and electrical work which will provide you with the experience you need to decide on your chosen route the following year.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be assessed through group work and coursework.
After you finish the course, you may be offered the chance to transition to a Level 1 course in the Construction department, or another college course of your choice. A relevant GCSE in English and maths will support this transition.
The construction industry has a number of trades you can train to qualify in, including plumbing, plastering, brickwork, joinery and electrical installation.
