COURSE

OVERVIEW

THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED TO RUN AGAIN NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR. For details please e-mail info@kirkleescollege.ac.uk This course is ideal for those who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support individuals with autism. You will also learn about the importance of person-centred care and how to communicate and socially interact with an individual with autism.
This course is suitable for adults working or volunteering with children, young people or adults or adults with an interest in this subject. You will complete this course on our online learning platform, where your knowledge will be assessed by a personal tutor through a series of written questions over several units.
This course is classed as ‘independent study’ – there are no lessons to attend in college or online. An assessor will be allocated to you and send you an email with induction information to complete yourself. You will be provided with login details for the college VLE for induction and separate login details for the actual course materials which you will be expected to complete and submit independently.
There are six modules on this course and you will be tested at the end of each module, ensuring you answer the questions in full and are able to give multiple examples. The course is detailed and can be challenging, but it is very informative and can really help you to understand the history of autism and different strategies that can create an inclusive environment. The days and times for which you undertake this course are flexible. You will need to have a suitable device other than a smart phone e.g. laptop, computer or tablet. This is due to the support materials being an online book.
