COURSE

OVERVIEW

Esports is an industry where teams will compete against one another using video games. The industry has both local and global stages, which can be as small as a school holding a private match or as large as two countries holding tournaments that span a few days. There are many new career avenues to explore in the industry either through being part of a competing team or competition hosts.
In your first year, you will be introduced to Esports and learn the key skills and strategies that can be used in games. In your second year, you will learn about the health and wellbeing for Esports players, as well as social responsibility and current ethical issues in the industry. You will also develop your game design knowledge by developing your own Esports game.
As part of the course, you will undertake a mixture of practical and theory-based tasks. You will understand the business application of Esports by creating your own team and designing and marketing your own logo and merchandise. You will also plan your own Esports event and understand nutrition for performance by designing a workout and diet plan.
You will have access to the college’s brand-new dedicated room which will provide high-spec gaming computers and equipment in a fun and inspiring environment. You will also have the opportunity to meet guest speakers from the industry and attend a variety of competitions both in and outside of college.

5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including English and maths. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
