Over nine weeks, you will learn how to bridge the gap between “having an idea” and “executing a design,” learning to navigate the industry-standard power of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. This course is built around practical, real-world business applications. Rather than focusing on abstract art, we dive straight into the workflows that matter: editing corporate photography, designing scalable logos and icons, and building high-impact social media graphics.
You will master the distinction between raster and vector environments, ensuring your designs are always crisp, professional, and technically correct, whether it’s destined for a mobile screen or a large-scale print banner. By the end of the course, you will possess a versatile “Digital Toolkit” that allows you to maintain brand consistency, shorten project turnaround times, and produce polished marketing collateral that resonates with your target audience.
Key learning outcomes of this course include precision editing, where you will master non-destructive photo retouching and background removal; vector versatility, creating scalable brand assets and typography that never lose quality. You will also learn technical literacy associated with design, including understanding file formats and colour profiles. Finally, you will also learn workflow efficiency skills, learning the shortcuts used by pros to produce high-quality graphics.
This course will run on Thursdays, 2pm-4pm
This is more than a software tutorial; it is a strategic upskilling programme designed to turn internal teams into agile, visual storytellers. There will be an end of course assessment and on completion of this you will be issued with a Kirklees College Certificate.
