Kirklees College’s Engineering Centre is home to some of the UK’s leading motor vehicle and mechanics training equipment. We have a fully functional motor vehicle garage and specialist hybrid and electric vehicle training equipment, and courses for both beginner and experienced car mechanics to match.
Whether you are new to industry and looking for an apprenticeship to start your motor mechanics career, or are an experienced technician looking to gain a specialist Level 4 qualification in diagnostics, repair and maintenance, we have a course for every adult learner.
Our Motor Vehicle courses for adults are varied and specialised, ranging from Level 1 and 2 awards in hybrid and electric vehicle awareness and diagnostics, to more in depth Level 3 and 4 IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) qualifications designed to upskill experienced technicians.

The facilities are amazing and you can definitely learn a lot here. The course is a brilliant supplement to the things you can’t see in cars and the tutors have a wealth of knowledge. If I am ever struggling with anything at work, I can always come to college and ask them about it. It’s a great place to study.
I chose this course because I was really interested in doing mechanics and the college has fantastic facilities that are not offered anywhere else. The course tutors are always really helpful and will never give up on you whatever situation you are in.
