COURSE
OVERVIEW
If you have achieved the Level 2 City & Guilds Dog Grooming Assistants qualification and are looking to start a career within the dog grooming industry, then this is qualification is aimed at you.
You will learn about health and safety, legislation and codes of practice for the dog grooming industry. This will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work safely in the industry.
You will also learn about styling and finishing a dog. Working with dogs, you will learn the importance of health checking and the correct handing techniques in a dog grooming environment. Part of working in a dog grooming salon is dealing with customers so you will study customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment.
The course will include a written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification. You will also undertake a practical assignment which covers health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs.

Entry Requirements
City & Guilds Dog Grooming Assistants Level 2 qualification, English at grade 4 or above and maths 3 or above.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Assessment Methods
You will be assessed through a written exam and practical assessments.
Course Progression
You can progress to the Level 3 Animal Management course.
Career Progression
Employed or self-employed Dog Groomer or related animal care role.
