COURSE
OVERVIEW
The Vocational Pathways course develops students with the skills, qualities and qualifications needed to progress onto Level 1 vocational programmes or into employment. On this course you will develop transferable skills and qualities such as leadership, effective communication, working with others and supporting own health and wellbeing. You will participate in a variety of challenging in college and community enterprise projects in order to hone your skills.
By selecting the Motor Vehicle pathway, you will spend your time learning all the Motor Vehicle basics in our state-of-the-art Motor Vehicle workshop. You will have an introduction to brakes, suspension, engines and engine principles, learning the basics of the motor vehicle industry. You will explore engine components, stripping down and refitting an engine and measuring and fitting brake pads.
This is a flexible course providing a personalised learning experience and opportunity to work on individual targets and focus on areas of development to support next steps the following year. Alongside your main programme you will also study English and maths, participate in work related activities, follow an enrichment programme and also spend one day a week following your chosen vocational pathway.
You will also participate in activities to understand how a real-life garage works and engage in work-based activity around this field.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Assessment Methods
You will be assessed through group work and coursework.
Course Progression
After you finish the course, you could be offered the chance to transition to a Level 1 programme within the Motor Vehicle department, or another college course of your choosing. A relevant GCSE in English and maths will support this transition.
Career Progression
Level 2 accredited courses, apprenticeship or employment.
