OVERVIEW
The Motor Vehicle Maintenance course develops students with the skills, qualities and qualifications needed to progress onto a Level 2 full time Motor Vehicle course or an apprenticeship. You will spend your time learning in-depth Motor Vehicle principles in our state-of-the-art workshop with an industry expert. You will learn maintenance theories and demonstrate this learning through challenging practical activities in the workshop.
Working with real cars in a fully functional workshop you will learn how to strip and complete a full engine refit and understand the various components of an engine and their function. You will also learn the principles of brakes, suspension and tyres and put theory into practice in these areas.
Understanding and following health and safety will be a key feature of your learning and you will be expected to work at industry standard throughout your time, developing skills around professionalism and customer care.
Alongside your main programme you will also study English and maths (where needed) and participate in work experience and work-based activity to underpin your learning in the workshop. This will include visits to local businesses and opportunity to meet industry experts to support your progression and transition the following year.
