The Scientific Games Engineering Apprenticeship has been designed to develop the next generation of Multi-Skilled Engineers. Apprentices will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to maintain, fault-find, repair and improve complex automated manufacturing equipment

APPRENTICESHIP

OVERVIEW

Demonstrate a strong commitment to both workplace and academic learning, successfully completing all apprenticeship requirements, coursework, assessments and examinations
Attend Kirklees College and all training activities as required, maintaining high levels of attendance, engagement and academic performance throughout the programme
Take ownership of personal development by actively seeking opportunities to expand technical knowledge, practical skills and engineering competence
Work alongside experienced engineers to develop the skills required to maintain, fault-find, repair and improve complex manufacturing equipment
Support planned preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, condition monitoring activities and breakdown response activities under appropriate supervision
Learn and apply engineering principles across mechanical, electrical, electronic, automation, fluid power and control systems disciplines
Develop the ability to safely use engineering tools, test equipment, technical documentation and diagnostic systems
Maintain accurate apprenticeship records, training portfolios, maintenance documentation and progress reviews in line with programme requirements
Demonstrate professional behaviours, including reliability, accountability, teamwork, communication, initiative and a positive attitude towards continuous learning
Adhere to all Company Health & Safety, Environmental and Security procedures, maintaining the highest standards of safe working practices at all times
Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas that improve safety, reliability, quality and operational performance

A genuine passion for engineering, manufacturing, technology or automation, demonstrated through hobbies, school projects, clubs or personal interests
An inquisitive mindset and a natural curiosity for understanding how machinery, equipment and systems work
Evidence of self-motivation and self-management, including balancing school studies, extracurricular activities, part-time employment, sports or personal commitments
A willingness to take ownership of personal development and seek opportunities to learn beyond the minimum requirements
Practical problem-solving ability and an enjoyment of hands-on technical activities
Experience building, repairing or maintaining equipment, vehicles, computers, electronics, bicycles, engines or other mechanical systems
Participation in STEM-related activities, engineering projects, competitions, clubs or technical challenges
Strong resilience and determination when faced with challenges or setbacks

GCSE in English with grade 4 / C or above (Essential)GCSE in Maths with grade 4 / C or above (Essential)

What will I learn

The role will require time divided between attendance at Kirklees College Engineering Centre (HD1 6AG) and practical on-the-job training at Scientific Games. Following the completion of the training period, the role will gradually transition from a standard day-shift arrangement to align with the existing Engineering shift pattern.
