COURSE
OVERVIEW
The Access to HE Diploma in Business and Law is designed for adults who wish to progress to university level study but have not yet achieved the prior qualifications necessary to do so. This one-year programme will equip you with a strong grounding in the principles of Business and Law to allow you to apply for university.
The Access Diploma will also prepare you for other aspects of university, including academic writing skills, interpreting and presenting information, as well as developing your professional attributes and communication skills.
On this course you will complete a range of mandatory modules to give you a thorough understanding of themes relevant to Law and Business. These include Business Organisations and Strategy, Business Planning and Budgeting, Contract Law, External Factors Affecting Business, Introduction to Law and The Law of Tort. You will also undertake a number of optional units covering a balance of business and law.
Your tutors will support you in researching and applying for university and higher education courses throughout your time at college. You will also be able to work on your UCAS applications with the support of your peer group.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of GCSE English and maths grade C/4 or above. Applicants must be 19+.
If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Assessment Methods
You will be assessed via written assessments, project work and exams.
Course Progression
Examples of degree-level courses you could apply for include BA (Hons) Business Management, BA (Hons) Criminology and Law, BA (Hons) Business and Law and BA (Hons) Law. You can also apply for a degree apprenticeship in a related field, such as Level 6 Chartered Legal Executive and Level 7 Solicitor.
Career Progression
Possible career paths include Accountant, Solicitor, Legal Executive, Project Manager and Business Administrator.
