COURSE

OVERVIEW

This course has been designed to allow you to develop your beauty and make up skills, techniques and knowledge so you can progress further in your desired role within the beauty industry.
You will create a beauty image using colour through make up, nail polish, temporary hair colour and accessories and design a mood board to collect your ideas. You will develop the skills and techniques that are used to create the image and present your finished design.
You will also be presented with the opportunity to further your own knowledge and skills by working with hand and nail care, skin care, nail art and face painting.
You will be able to learn within our purpose-built hairdressing and beauty salons stocked with all the essentials to create your desired looks. Our salons are open to the public so you will be working within a professional environment from the start of your course. Students will practice on real clients and may also practice treatments on other students on the same course at Kirklees College.

A minimum of GCSE English and maths grade 1 or above. It is also expected that students complete their current course of study to the best of their ability and maintain a positive approach to continuing their studies. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be assessed through observations of practical ability, treatment plans, written assignments, external tests, online learning and completion of a portfolio of work.
