COURSE

OVERVIEW

This course runs twice a week to provide adult students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work within the industry as a beauty therapist. During this course, your skills and knowledge will be assessed through real working environments.
You will learn all the required elements to successfully work as a beauty therapist through facial skin care, enhancement of eyebrows and eyelashes, waxing, manicure and pedicure services. You will begin to acquire the knowledge necessary to understand the business side of the beauty industry, including responsibilities to mitigate risks within the workplace, client interaction, and developing and maintaining both personal and professional skills.
You will have the advantage of learning in our purpose-built beauty salons stocked with all the essentials to create your desired looks. Our salons are open to the public, so you will be working within a professional environment from the start of your course, so your personal appearance must reflect industry standards. Students will practice on real clients and also practice treatments on other students on the same course at Kirklees College. You will need to purchase both the kit and uniform to do this course. These are available from the college.

The cost of this course is £1,215 but some students may be eligible for fee remission. Please contact customerservices@kirkleescollege.ac.uk to find out if you are eligible
A minimum of maths and English Grade 2 or above, or an ESOL qualification at grade 2.
You will be assessed through observations on practical ability, treatment plans, written assignments, external tests, online learning and completion of a portfolio of work.
