OVERVIEW

This is a practical, industry-focused qualification designed to help you develop essential cookery skills and prepare for employment in a professional kitchen environment.
At college, we aim to provide you with a strong foundation in professional cookery while helping you build confidence, consistency and technical ability across a wide range of dishes and kitchen tasks.
You will gain hands-on experience using a variety of cooking methods, ingredients and professional kitchen equipment. Throughout the course, you will develop an understanding of food preparation, presentation and kitchen organisation, alongside the importance of hygiene, health and safety, and working effectively as part of a team.
Emphasis is placed on learning techniques that are highly valued within the hospitality industry, ensuring you not only build confidence in your practical skills but also understand the standards and expectations of a real working kitchen. This course will support you in developing the knowledge, discipline and professionalism needed for progression into employment or further study within the catering and hospitality sector.
