This course will develop your understanding of fashion design, development and textile production.

COURSE

OVERVIEW

On this Level 2 course you will develop your creative practice and fashion design skills by working on various projects. Pattern cutting and sewing techniques will be at the core of your learning and you will finish the course with a strong base knowledge of textile making techniques.
You will be taught various skills, including how to make pockets, collars, apply facings, insert sleeves and using commercial patterns, to advance your garment construction skills.
As part of your study programme, you will have chance to take part in art and design competitions, briefs from employers and organisations and various trips and activities to expand your creative practice.
As well as practical work, you will be taught about the fashion industry and the range of opportunities available to you once you leave college. Through your project work, you will also build a portfolio of designs.

A minimum of four GCSEs with the following grades: English at 3 or above and maths at 2 or above and two other GCSEs at 3 or above, ideally to include an art and design subject. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be continually assessed through project work.
