OVERVIEW

Food and drink advanced process operators work in one of the largest and fastest growing sectors of industry. Every day, producers, manufacturers and retailers make and sell millions of innovative food products to consumers in the UK and around the world. As an apprentice, it is imperative that you have the skills and knowledge to ensure our food products, which millions of people consume every day, are safe.
As an advanced operator, you will work in the manufacturing sector of the food and drink industry. Typically, you will work on production lines in manufacturing plants and spend some time offline working on activities, such as new product development. You will gain knowledge and skills in preventative maintenance activities and continuous improvement (CI) techniques, which are essential to maintaining and improving For more information visit: productivity in food and drink manufacturing sites.
You will be able to evaluate and make improvements to safety, quality and performance in a food and drink manufacturing environment. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of food and drink products, health and safety systems, quality systems and good manufacturing processes (GMP). You will be trained to interpret data to identify trends and carry out basic fault finding to improve quality and productivity.
On completion of the apprenticeship, you may be expected to lead others which will develop your leadership and management skills and allow you to progress to more advanced technical or leadership roles. This apprenticeship is an ideal springboard for potential future leaders of the food and drink industry.

GCSE English and maths grade 4 or above and a suitable employer. To start your apprenticeship you must have secured employment that the college has agreed is suitable.
You will be assessed via an end-point assessment.
