Over the course of the HNC, you will develop your understanding of a broad range of business functions. You will tie this knowledge to practical skills for the work place through research, independent study and workplace scenarios. The HNC has been designed to meet the needs of employers and each unit you undertake will be tied to a specific leadership and management role, for example Department Manager.
You will complete eight core modules during the course. These are: The Contemporary Business Environment; Marketing Processes and Planning; Management of Human Resources; Leadership and Management; Accounting Principles; Managing a Successful Business Project; Operational Planning and Management, and Digital Business in Practice.
Each year, the awarding body Pearson will also set a unit that is based on a theme (e.g. Corporate Social Responsibility), and you will complete an assessed project around how to successfully implement and evaluate the theme within a business structure. This will develop your analytical business skills and equip you with experience of evaluating and implementing strategy within a business.
As well as your business knowledge, you will also develop a range of employability skills. Throughout classes, assessment and individual study, you will develop a range of transferable skills including problem solving, creativity, communication, team work, leadership, digital literacy and cultural awareness.
