OVERVIEW
Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Industry
This unit introduces learners to the structure of the hair and beauty industry and the different roles found in a salon. Students develop an understanding of professional behaviour, personal presentation, and good communication when interacting with clients and colleagues. The unit also highlights the importance of teamwork, organisation, and maintaining a professional attitude in a working salon environment
Providing Basic Manicure
This unit focuses on developing practical nail care skills while following professional hygiene and safety procedures. Learners practise preparing the work area, carrying out a basic manicure, and presenting a neat finish. Students also develop an understanding of client care by communicating politely and ensuring the client feels comfortable during the service.
Plaiting & Twisting
In this unit, learners practise basic hair styling techniques using plaiting and twisting methods. Students learn how to prepare the hair, section it correctly, and create simple styles while following safe and hygienic working practices. The unit helps learners improve coordination, patience, and attention to detail while developing confidence when carrying out practical hair styling tasks.
This course will run on Wednesdays, 11:30-2:30
Developing Professional and Workplace Skills
Learners develop transferable skills that are important for working in the hair and beauty sector. These include time management, organisation, and working effectively with others. Students also learn about health and safety responsibilities, maintaining a clean workspace, and providing good client care to ensure clients feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after in a salon environment.
