Learning takes place through a blend of classroom teaching and workshop-based activities, giving you real experience of working within the trade environment. A strong emphasis is placed on understanding and applying health and safety regulations. You will learn how to work safely and responsibly—protecting yourself, your colleagues, and future customers—while gaining an awareness of the legislation that governs professional practice in the industry.
Within our workshops, you will develop the core skills needed for employment, including how to prepare work areas, use tools correctly, and follow industry-standard processes. You will also gain experience in setting up and taking down access equipment and working platforms, preparing surfaces, and applying different finishes using materials and techniques relevant to the trade.
As part of your practical development, you will learn to apply paint systems to non complex areas, hang foundation and plain papers, and produce specialist decorative finishes. These activities are designed to help you build accuracy, confidence, and attention to detail in your work.
Throughout the programme, you will deepen your knowledge of materials, tools, and methods used across the sector and develop the professional skills essential for progressing into further training or entering the workforce.
