COURSE

OVERVIEW

This is a great entry level qualification if you know you want to progress to a higher, more specific Creative Industries qualification at college, but aren’t sure which area you want to study. By allowing you to explore a range of creative skills in Art and Design, Media and Music, you can decide on your specialism whilst gaining a valuable qualification.
Students on this course must complete 42 credits during this one-year course. Modules include a range of creative skills, including acting, artwork, photography and more. Depending on which modules you study, you will be learning at either our Huddersfield Centre or Springfield Sixth Form Centre, where you will be taught by industry experienced tutors.
Employability skills are also built into the qualification and you can study a range of units that will help you prepare for the world of work. These include: applying for a job, career planning and interview skills.
English and maths skills are also built into the curriculum and will help you boost your knowledge of these key areas, alongside studying for your GCSEs, if you have not already achieved your grade 4.

Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above in English and/or maths and an art-based subject. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Throughout the qualification, you will be assessed via an ongoing portfolio of evidence.

This qualification prepares you for further study or work within the creative sector. Some careers in the sector include: photographer, graphic designer, freelance musician, actor, production assistant, broadcasting and marketing.
