COURSE

OVERVIEW

The Football pathway of the Level 3 Sport, Health and Physical Activity course at Kirklees College will equip you with all the relevant knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the international football industry. You will be taught by tutors who have experienced in the football industry, and access to amazing opportunities such as oversees training trips, a day in the life experience at Manchester City, and the chance to become an Association of Colleges (AOC) Football Ambassador.
In your first year, you will cover exercise, health and lifestyle; preparing for a career in football; football coaching; leadership in football; coaching specialist populations; organising sports events; instructing physical activity and exercise, practical team sports and fitness testing for sport and exercise. The fitness testing module is delivered in partnership with the University of Huddersfield, and you will have access to their world-class facilities.
In your second year, you will cover athlete’s lifestyle; technical and tactical skills in sport; sports nutrition; analysis of sports performance; current issues in football; work experience in football; sports injuries; fitness training, and strength and conditioning.
As part of this course, you will benefit from our industry partnerships and opportunities to enrich your experience. These include our partnership with West Riding, who you will work on a Your Game event with, Futsal officiating, using Catapult PlayerTek analysis and much more.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 4 or above and maths at 3 or above and 3 other GCSEs at 4 or above including PE or a sports background. If maths or English are not attained at a grade 4, you will be placed on the Level 3 Introductory Certificate, rather than a Level 2 qualification.
You will be assessed through discussions, group presentations and activities, written assessments, practical demonstrations, fitness tests, logbooks and diaries and observations.
You can progress to higher education or employment in the sector.
This qualification will unlock routes to multiple careers in the football industry, including player, coach, physio and business and management roles.
