COURSE

OVERVIEW

This introductory Level 1 course offers an insight into the sport and leisure industry. The course is designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge on a range of topics and disciplines that will help you to succeed in your career next steps.
The qualifications presents the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills.
The course offers a blend of learning, through both practical and theory-based lessons, you will gain practical experience of designing, implementing and delivering sport sessions, events and programmes studying topics such as coaching skills in sport, assisting in a sports activity and fundamentals of playing sport.
Outside of your lessons, you will be exposed to opportunities within the industry to allow you to explore a plan to start your career through looking at the conditions of employment, qualifications and skills required to excel in the sector. Alongside your course, you can combine learning and playing by joining one of our sports academies for football and rugby league in partnership with Huddersfield Giants.

The cost of this course is £1734 for studentss who are ages 19+. If you are 19+ and looking to join this course please contact our customer services team to discuss payment of fees and support that may be available. customerservices@kirkleescollege
A minimum of 4 GCSEs with the following grades: English at grade 2 or above maths at grade 1 or above and 2 other GCSEs at grade 2 or above. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be assessed through discussions, group presentations, written assessments, practical assessments, fitness tests, group activities and observations.
