This T Level will teach you all you need to know to build the foundations for a career in Animal Care and Management.

COURSE

OVERVIEW

During this two-year course, you will mix classroom and practical learning with nine weeks of compulsory work placement in the animal care industry. Our work experience team at college will help you find a suitable placement which will give you vital sector experience alongside your lessons in theory.
You will cover a broad range of topics related to the animal care sector, including sustainability and climate change, the principles of biosecurity, the supply chain and principles of stock management and business organisations, enterprise skills and project management.
You will also learn about a range of general business skills required of animal care professionals. Topics include communication, principles of customer care, finance, health and safety and information and data processing.
After you complete this T Level, you will be able to apply for jobs in the sector directly or progress onto an apprenticeship or university to enhance your qualifications.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English, maths and preferably science. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
Your core knowledge and skills will be assessed through exams and an employer-set project. Assessment of occupational specialist knowledge and skills will vary depending on the occupation. It may involve tests, practical assignments and projects. Your occupational specialist knowledge and skills will be assessed in the second year.

After this course you can pursue many careers in animal care, including zoo keeper, animal care worker, assistance dog trainer, dog handler, horse riding instructor and more.
