COURSE

OVERVIEW

On this course, you will cover topics that are relevant to the electrical industry to prepare you for a future career in electrical installation. Whilst on your two-year course, you will learn about the engineering processes and procedures for electrotechnical systems.
You will gain an understanding on construction in general by learning about a number of issues that are relevant to the sector, such as health and safety when working with electrotechnical systems, building regulations and standards and construction methods.
The course will also provide you with real-life practices to use in future roles, such as building design, surveying and planning, and the building technology principles which are standard practice in the construction industry. The units on this course will also cover the design and planning of electrical systems and their components.

This qualification focuses on a wide range of green technologies that are emerging in the electrical industry. You will look at sustainability in the construction industry and how it will apply when working on electrotechnical systems. You will also undertake a minimum of 315 hours work in an industry placement in the second year of your studies. We will support you in finding a placement.

GCSE maths or Science at grade 5 and four other GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English, maths and science. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
