This T Level course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training or study in the education and childcare sector.

COURSE

OVERVIEW

On this course, you will cover themes that are relevant to the education and childcare industry to prepare you for a future career in early years education or childcare. Whilst on your two-year course, you will develop an understanding of the education and childcare sector from ages 0 to 19.
You will learn how to develop relationships with children to facilitate their development, the importance of safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing for children. You will also learn how to plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress and develop as they grow. You will study the importance of working in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children’s development.
Your industry placement will consist of a minimum of 750 hours of work during your two years of studies and you will be supported in finding your placement. You may either be working on your own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by the government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
The course will provide you with real-life practices to use in future roles, such as supporting and promoting children’s play, development and early education. You will be able to practice your activity plans and demonstrate your skills and knowledge in preparation for observation in setting in our new nursery room areas within college.

A minimum of five GCSEs with the following grades: five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and maths. You will also need to have a fully enhanced DBS check. If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.
You will be continually assessed through written assignments, presentations and a range of other formative and summative assessment methods. You will undertake two external examinations and an employer set project. You will also be assessed throughout your placement by a workplace assessor.
Foundation Degree Higher Education
You can progress to employment as an Early Years Educator or full-time employment in the early years and education sector.
