Nutrition is a fundamental aspect of health and wellbeing and understanding its principles is essential for anyone interested in promoting healthy living. Our Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about your diet and to support others in achieving optimal health.
The six mandatory units of this certification cover a wide range of topics, from the principles of healthy eating to the principles of food safety for the home environment. Unit 1, Exploring Principles of Healthy Eating, is an essential foundation for the rest of the certification. Unit 2, Considering the Nutritional Needs of a Variety of Individuals, builds on this foundation by exploring the specific nutritional needs of different individuals.
Unit 3, Using Food and Nutrition Information to Plan a Healthy Diet, takes a practical approach by teaching you how to use food and nutrition information to plan and prepare healthy meals. Unit 5, Understanding Eating Disorders, is an essential component of this certification, as it explores a serious and growing public health concern.
Unit 6, Principles of Food Safety for the Home Environment, is an important aspect of promoting healthy living. This unit covers the principles of food safety in the home environment, including how to handle, store, and prepare food safely.
Before starting the course, you must complete a pre-assessment. This needs to be submitted at least two weeks prior to the enrolment start date to confirm your place on the course.
