This week, Kirklees College welcomes new and returning students after the summer break.
Students will be warmly welcomed by staff across our seven centres located in Huddersfield and Dewsbury, across a range of subject areas.
As a uniquely vocational college, Kirklees College prides itself on offering its students a hands-on learning experience focused on practical skills development and work experience.

What’s happening at the start of the new term?
Students will be invited to the college’s Welcome Fairs. These events are where they can learn about college services, opportunities, and activities, as well as services they can access outside college. There’s also a chance for them to take part in competitions to win amazing prizes and also grab some fantastic freebies.
A closer look at other opportunities through the new academic year
Kirklees College believes that making the most of student life is as important for students as the course itself. The college is a collaborative, inclusive, supportive and fun campus, offering students the chance to make great memories as they prepare for a successful future.
A key part of a student’s time with Kirklees College involves them taking part in work and industry placements. These career-enhancing opportunities allow for students to put their knowledge from the classroom into practice and develop more key industry insights.
All students enrolling with the college throughout September 2026 will have access to one of our six Learning Resource Centres. These are great places for group or individual study outside of the classroom.
Student’s Union and helping to build the leaders of tomorrow
There’s also the opportunity to get involved with the Students’ Union and Student Voice that aim to represent the needs and views of the student body.
New Student Union President Takunda Murove is really excited about the new academic year; he said: “I’m really looking forward to making a positive difference as Kirklees College Student Union President and Governor. I want to represent students, listen to their ideas and make sure their voices are heard in important decisions. I’m excited to work with students and staff to create more opportunities, activities and experiences that bring people together and make college life even better.”

Kirklees College recently opened its Enrolment Hotline call centre, taking queries from the public who want to join a course starting over the next couple of weeks. The hotline number is 01484 437100 and is open Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm until the end of September.
