Last Thursday, Level 2 Barbering Students at Huddersfield Centre welcomed Tracy Mangan for a motivational presentation and live demonstration.

Tracy was recently named Yorkshire’s Best Barber at the Salon Awards 2021 and it was the second time she has won the award.

Tracy has been a hairdresser for 29 years and a barber for 18 years. The students were excited to hear about her experience and what her top tips were to make it in the industry.

Tracy stressed the importance of using social media as a great way to create a visual progress folder but to also build a social following and client base.

Tracy said:

“I have really enjoyed coming in to speak to the students today. I hope they have learned something from me and I wish them all the best with their barbering careers!”

Tracy gave a fading demonstration on student Haider, who said:

“It has been really interesting to hear from Tracy today, I have learnt a lot and I love my new haircut.”

Barbering lecturer Nick Stephenson commented:

“The students have found Tracy’s visit really motivational. She has really inspired the students to continue with their barbering. She has shown that anyone can make it if they put their mind to it.”
