Recently, Level 3 Year 2 Performing Arts students conducted performance classes at Huddersfield Mission. Classes included skills such as dancing, singing and acting and then in the final week they performed in the Theatre at the Huddersfield Mission with the learners that attended the course.

Huddersfield Mission is a well-established charity that seeks to address the symptoms and causes of social injustice, relating to poverty, additional needs, or challenging backgrounds and who need a form of escape.

Emma Crosland, Work Placement and Employer Liaison Officer at Kirklees College said:

“I am so proud of our Performing Arts students at Kirklees College. They have demonstrated and developed some incredible skills during this process, such as confidence, leadership and teamwork. These skills will be crucial for their next stages, whether that be continuing with their education or seeking employment.

The work they do at Huddersfield Mission is fantastic and it has been a great experience for Kirklees College to work with them on this project.”

Deborah Murphy, Support Services Manager at Huddersfield Mission added:

“We are passionate about providing opportunities for students to gain valuable experience and skills. The Huddersfield Mission is a unique setting in which students can experience the diversity of our community, equipping them to be effective professionals of the future.

The Performing Arts students from Kirklees College did themselves proud in their time at the Mission, providing well planned, fun and interactive sessions for many of our customers, whilst helping to combat social isolation”.
