Former sports student Faheem Mustakeem is still undefeated in his career as a professional boxer and he credits Kirklees College for giving him the skills to thrive in his young sporting career.
Since studying sport at the college, Faheem has competed in five professional fights and remains undefeated, winning four and drawing once.
When speaking about his time with the college, Faheem spoke very positively: “The college gave me the opportunity to develop academically while also continuing to pursue my ambitions in boxing. The support from the staff and the environment at the college helped me a lot.”
What skills did Faheem gain that are now helping him?
Faheem added: “Kirklees College helped me understand the importance of discipline, commitment and managing my time effectively.
“Professional boxing isn’t just about what happens in the ring but also what kind of character you are out of the ring, and Kirklees College has taught me this, and this has been absorbed into my life.
The highlight of his career so far
Faheem has come a long way since he first enrolled on his sports course at Kirklees College. He made quick progress but believes the start of his career is still the highlight. “The best moment of my boxing career so far has been my professional debut. It was the most emotional day of my life. All the years of hard work, sacrifice, early mornings, tough training sessions and setbacks all led up to that moment.
“Walking out as a professional boxer for the first time was something I had dreamed about for so long, and to finally live it was overwhelming in the best way possible.”

Faheem’s ambitions for the future
Thinking ahead, Faheem: “My ambition is to continue progressing as a professional boxer and reach the highest level possible in the sport.”
