Kirklees College is delighted to announce the launch of not only its new Adult Course Guide for September 2026, but also a brand-new video, ‘Your Next Chapter’, which highlights the meaningful impact of adult and community education at the college.
Produced in collaboration with Sam Teale Productions, an award-winning local production company, the video shines a spotlight on all those within the Kirklees College community who spend their time creating opportunities and changing the lives of around 6,000 adult students each year.
The video opens with Sharon Archer, Curriculum Director for Adult Education at Kirklees College, speaking about the impact of adult and community education and the need for it to be supported.
Steve Plumstead, Curriculum Director, has had a fantastic journey with the college. Initially a student at the college, Steve has been a technician, lecturer, and now has an executive management role. In the video, he talks about the profound impact that the college has had on him.
Nikki Holroyd, an Adult Learning Facilitator and Lecturer at Kirklees College, speaks about offering choices to students that wouldn’t have been made available to them without education.
Students explain how the college has changed their lives
Another star of the video is Brittany O’Sullivan (pictured above). Brittany is a Fabrication and Welding apprentice. Despite significant personal challenges, she has thrived on her apprenticeship and speaks about the impact that Kirklees College has had.
Then there’s Benjamin Atkinson. After 27 years in the hospitality and catering industry, Ben decided to pursue a different career path and studied for a teaching qualification at Kirklees College. He is now putting that experience at the college to good use and is a valued member of the teaching staff.
Throughout her time on the Level 3 Education and Training course, Sanaa Shaqeel has been praised for demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and compassion. Sanaa talks about the course’s impact on her career and what she plans on doing next.
A creative celebration of adult learning at Kirklees College

The adult curriculum covers a variety of subject areas, including Business, Construction, Creative Industries, Engineering, ESOL, Hair and Beauty, Sport, Hospitality and Catering, Motor Vehicle, Teaching and more.
Delivered across the college’s seven specialist centres in Huddersfield and Dewsbury, students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including art studios, professional kitchens, and a specialist construction centre.
