Last week Kirklees College hosted our Food and Drink Employer Event at the Process Manufacturing Centre.

It was fantastic to welcome some great employers in the industry to our Process Manufacturing Centre to talk all things Food and Drink Maintenance Engineering over breakfast and lunch.

Employers included Arla Foods, Haribo, Hilton Process Solutions, Hovis, Premier Foods and awarding bodies NSAFD.

Attendees listened to presentations from the National Skills Academy and end-point assessment organisations FDQ and OAL. The Kirklees College team provided updates on delivery, new equipment and the apprenticeship route review.

All visitors were taken on a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities including our new automated bottling plant before meeting with current apprentices Lewis from Premier Food and Jamie and Matt from Hovis.

Alan Parkinson, Business Development Manager at Kirklees College said:

“This event showcased the close relationship between the college, our employers and apprentices. Jamie, Lewis and Matt are excellent representatives for their respective employers and listening to their experiences helped us all remember why we invest so much time and energy into apprenticeships. It was a fantastic event shared with our industry partners and Kirklees College look forward to the next one.”
