T Levels Week 2026 is a great chance for T Level providers like Kirklees College to celebrate T Level students who are at the start of their careers.
Kirklees College has been a T Level provider for over five years and is proud to run courses across several exciting industries.
Over the past five years, the college has also built an amazing network of employer partners to deliver amazing T Level placement opportunities to students.
These partners range from major national companies such as the NHS, to local businesses in key sectors, such as health and social care, construction and engineering.
These organisations have provided placement opportunities for students that are not only essential to them gaining their qualification, but also offer further opportunities such as the one offered to Zahra Iqbal, an Education and Early Years student who found a permanent job after thriving on placement at Nik Niks Bizzy Bees.
Meet the Kirklees College T Level students at the start of their careers
Ola Okrasinka-Lang is currently completing placement on Ward 9 at Dewsbury & District Hospital and Kirkwood Hospice. Ola has received amazing feedback on placement so far, and staff commented that she is “able to adjust her care approach depending on the needs of the patients.”
At the end of her course, Ola wants to pursue a career as a children’s nurse, and both placements will help towards achieving this career goal.
Layla Shotton is a first-year Management and Administration student and chose a T Level because she believes it is a good starting point for her career.
Layla added: “I didn’t feel like I was quite ready for an apprenticeship yet, but a T Level is a great starting point. I have only been on the course for a few weeks, but I already feel more confident.”
Evie Strachan is on the same course as Layla and said: “I am really enjoying the finance part of the course. I love working with numbers. It has inspired me to start thinking about a career in finance or accountancy.”
Over at Engineering Centre, T Level students are taking advantage of the college’s state-of-the-art facilities to start their careers.
Daiyaan-Uddeen Jarral is one of those students; he added: “I really wanted a more practical course and this has been perfect. I like working with the machines and feel like it’s making me more prepared for a career within engineering.”
Alfie Charlesworth, also studying Engineering, said: “I think the best part of the course is it allows me to keep my options open about what I do next. When I go out on placement, I will get the experience to feel confident to go into the workplace, but I’m also learning the theory side, which allows me to progress to university.”
Another Engineering student, Logan Thacker, also gave his thoughts: “I chose a T Level in Engineering because the course will help me get a job in an exciting sector.”
