How a placement helped Zahra and Zara prepare for employment
Zahra Iqbal and Zara Nasir, two Education and Early Years have recently been celebrating not only achieving exceptional results but also finding permanent jobs following successful work placements.
Both students impressed staff at Kirklees College with their hard work and dedication and quickly showed similar attributes on placements.
When talking about Zahra, Nicola Taylor- Kilkenny, Owner of Nik Niks Bizzy Bees, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the success of Zahra Iqbal, who has recently secured full-time employment with Nik Niks Bizzy Bees. Zahra came to us as a student through Kirklees College, and we were impressed with her work ethic and commitment.”
Nicola added: “During her placement, Zahra expressed an interest in full-time employment once her studies had finished. Zahra’s achievement is a fantastic example of how the skills, experience and confidence developed during her time at college and during placement. We are extremely proud of her and wish her every success in this exciting next chapter.”

Zara’s placement at Holly Tree Private Day Nursery and Zahra’s placement at Nik Nik’s Bizzy Bees enabled them to develop genuine workplace skills and build positive professional relationships, ultimately leading to employment opportunities.
Helping to start the careers of three engineers
T Level Engineering students Riley Marsh, Freddie Greenwood and Edward Pratt have all had similar experiences.
Edward Pratt achieved a Merit on his course overall, and after impressing on placement at Dec Group, he was recently offered a full-time position.
He was presented with an award at our ‘Employer Thank You Dinner’ back in February 2026.
Riley Marsh completed his placement at David Browns Engineering and was recently offered an apprenticeship with them.
After achieving an incredible Distinction, Freddie Greenwood has been offered a placement with Holdson Ltd after also thriving on placement with the same organisation.
