Engineering students at Kirklees College are celebrating after achieving outstanding grades and are now planning their next steps.

Students across the college’s Level 3 and T Level courses are progressing onto employment, apprenticeships and university.

Aiden King’s progression from Level 2 to Level 3 and then an apprenticeship

Aiden King joined the college in September 2023 on the Level 2 Certificate in Engineering, which he completed before progressing onto the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Michelle Grainger, Head of Engineering at Kirklees College, was full of praise for Aiden: “Throughout his time with us, Aiden has worked hard and shown real commitment to his studies. He has built strong relationships with both his peers and tutors, maintained excellent attendance, and significantly developed his confidence and engineering skills.

As a result of his efforts and progression over the last three years, Aiden has secured an Engineering Apprenticeship, a fantastic next step in his engineering career.

Georgie O’Connor praised for outstanding leadership skills

Georgie O’Connor has been an exceptional student throughout her time at the college, and has consistently gone above and beyond in both academic and extracurricular activities.

She demonstrated outstanding leadership skills during the CanSat competition 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, where she successfully led her team through the regional stages while balancing the demands of her T Level studies. Georgie was recognised for her work after receiving a nomination at the college’s end-of-year awards ceremony, COLS. Georgie is now looking forward to starting her apprenticeship.

Riley Marsh proves that hard work is always key

Riley Marsh has been celebrated for the hard work and dedication during his T Level journey.  He has secured a highly sought-after apprenticeship with a major local employer, putting him in a strong position as he begins his career in engineering.

Michelle Grainger added: “He has consistently applied himself to his studies, building the knowledge and skills required to achieve an overall Distinction in his Engineering and Manufacturing T Level. Congratulations Riley on a fantastic achievement!”
